Back in ~2005, a friend at work emailed me an Excel based Football Manager game. Within the hour, half the people in the office were playing it. It was incredibly simple, incredibly addictive, and entire lunchtimes (and the rest) were lost in attempts to take a League Two club to the treble in under 15 seasons.

The original excel game
This is my version of it, built in Nextjs as part of a wider side project. At present, you can only play ONE season, and it is designed to be played on a laptop or desktop. I'm looking for feedback on the gameplay engine (How realistic does a season feel? Did the number of goals, injuries, league position etc feel realistic?) rather than the UI or features, as they are all intended to replicate the Excel game.
Version 2 will be MUCH bigger, with expanded player stats, multiple seasons, more competitions, player training, suspensions, and a much more complex matchday simulation enginge. The gameplay will be more like a nod to the Championship Manager series from '97-02.
